LA Film Fest June 19 - 29 Westwood Village Julius Shulman is synonymous with architectural photography and, to many people, Los Angeles itself. As a young man, Shulman befriended and worked with many of the major modernist architects working in the West, including Richard Neutra, Rudolf Schindler and Frank Lloyd Wright. It was Shulman's photography of their accomplishments that helped propel these figures into the public eye as producers of a new utopian mode of living. This comprehensive and illuminating documentary, animated by the spirit of a still-working 97-year-old Shulman, demonstrates his magnificent ability to control the eye's perception of designed space as somewhere we would all like to inhabit.
