What is CAT and Jenny?
CAT & Genny is a health & safety training course designed to give operatives and supervisors knowledge of conducting cable avoidance operations to locate underground services. On the course, you will learn how to correctly operate the Cable Avoidance Tool (CVAT) and the Signal Generator (Genny).
What does the CAT 4 detect?
The CAT4 Avoidance Mode™ lets the operator check an intended excavation area for Power, Radio and Genny signals, and pinpoint located utilities in a single scan. Features such as the bargraph ‘tidemark’ enable an operator to quickly spot a peak response and zero-in on a buried conductor.
How often does a CAT and Genny need to be calibrated?
once a year
As a piece of safety equipment, CAT & Genny should be serviced and have their calibration validated at least once a year.
Do you need to be qualified to use a CAT scanner?
CAT Scan CAT and Genny Operator Training Courses In order to use this equipment effectively and to prove competence operatives must be trained by a competent person.
What is a cable avoidance tool?
Cable Avoidance Tools assist in identifying the location of buried cables and pipes before excavation, reducing the risk of injury to personnel and damage to utilities.
How often should a CAT and Genny be calibrated?
What does a CAT detect?
Cats also have a keen sense of smell and may detect chemical changes in the body that are produced by sickness. Cats can also detect shifts in attitude, behaviour, and pattern that disrupt everyday routines. They can also detect physical and psychological changes in behaviour as a result of sickness.
How long does a CAT scan ticket last?
3 years
The certificate is valid for 3 years.

Why rd4000 location system?
The Radiodetection RD4000 Location System is much more than a Web-enabled locator. Using a new generation of technology the RD4000 leapfrogs all others not just in features but in performance and ease of use. The RD4000 is the most cost effective method of locating buried services be it: Gas / Electric / Telecom / Water / Sewer / CATV.
Why Radiodetection cat?
Radiodetection C.A.Ts are designed to respond exceptionally quickly to even the smallest detectable underground signals. Radiodetection’s research into underground signal detection has shown that the ability of an operator to identify these buried utilities is significantly reduced by careless working practices such as excessive or rapid swinging.
