How do you get to Swallet waterfall?
There is parking for 3 or 4 cars about 200yds along the road towards Foolow or park in Litton (10 mins). Waterfall is less than 2 mins from the road (take the first footpath on left then immediately left through small gate. Don’t take the second wider access road – Google map position is wrong).
How do you get into Kinder’s downfall?
Turn left out of the Car Park and head up Kinder Road towards Kinder Reservoir, there is only one way to go, eventually you reach a steep climb called White Brow, there is a signpost, climb up the steep cobbled path, it can be slippery when wet, keep walking eventually the Kinder Reservoir will appear on your right.

A hard to moderate walk and not for the inexperienced even in good weather. Once on the Kinder Scout plateau there are no way markers or signs. Also the footpaths are not always clearly obvious. Good OS maps or routes are a must as is a compass.

This Padley Gorge walk is one of our favourite Peak District family walks, especially for young kids, as they can paddle in the stream, climb boulders and trees, and there’s even ice-cream at the end! It’s a 2.7km cicular walk that takes in the National Trust’s Longshaw Estate too (which is free to walk though).
Can you swim in Padley Gorge?
Padley Gorge Find a spot in the shade under a tree and let the kids clamber on the rocks and wade in the fresh waters. It’s not deep enough for a swim, but this is perfect paddling territory. There’s often an ice-cream van on the roadside where you park. Make sure you bring change.
