What is low loft batting used for?
Loft – The weight and thickness of batting is measured by its loft. Low loft means thin, high loft means thick. Choose low loft if you want your finished project to have a flatter appearance, like for wall hangings and place mats. For a fluffier quilt or comforter, choose a high loft batting.
How do you use fusible batting tape?
Use your rotary cutter and ruler to get straight edges on the batting pieces and then measure out an appropriate length of batting seam tape. Butt the edges of batting together, lay the batting seam on top of the two pieces where they join, and iron. Voila! Youve now got a nice piece of batting you can use.

Can you use flannel instead of batting in a quilt?
A flannel sheet is a good alternative. You can also use a flannel sheet for the batting of a traditional quilt, but check first to make sure the pattern doesn’t show through the top or backing. For an even lighter weight, you can use a regular sheet.
Can fusible batting be washed?
The Low Loft and High Loft Polyester Fusible Battings can feel stiff at first. This is because the batting contains a fusible, which is holding your quilt layers together. Once you have finished your quilt, you can rinse it in cold water. The rinsing process removes the fusible in the batting, softening your quilt.
Does fusible interfacing wash out?
They have little or no shrinkage & will not ravel. They can be washed or dry-cleaned. Other types of Pellon® interfacings are woven, knitted or weft-inserted. Interfacing may also be fusible or sew-in.
Why does my iron on interfacing not stick?
Sometimes an iron that’s too hot will burn the glue off. Or the glue could melt completely, and your interfacing won’t stick. Again, it always pays to test first! Another possible cause is that the type of interfacing you want to fuse is not suitable for your fabric.
Is there a difference between fusible webbing and fusible interfacing?
