Are Yorkville amps good?

They’re EXCELLENT quality amplifiers that measure well. They can’t quite meet the performance of the MC2 amplifiers, but they come close enough and are easy to get for a reasonable price. These Yorkville amps are NOT in any way related to Crest.

Is Traynor a good brand?

Traynor has been around since the 1960’s. They are a well established company that designs and builds everything in house in Canada. They also own Applied Research and Technology (ART), based in Rochester New York. If you like their product, the quality is there.

Are Traynor bass cabs good?

They sound great together. The combination of a 15″ for low end and 10″s for punch, along with the horn make this a great sounding full range cab. I would be nice to have a passive crossover, but that’s my only complaint. Solid build quality as always from Traynor.

How do you date a Traynor amp?

Its serial number is 3120305. Since the early YBA-1s only had a four digit number, I’m assuming at the moment that the first three numbers are a date code. Perhaps 3 (1973), 12 (December), s/n 0305? That date would be about right for the amp.

That being said, while Yorkville makes some higher end loudspeakers they are most noted for their mid to low range products. They used to make all of their products in Canada and the Long family has been manufacturing for over 40 years (started with Traynor) so it is usually of decent quality.
