Peter Gordon Lawrence was the founder and chairman of PGL Travel, Britain’s leading operators of children’s outdoor-activity holidays and adventure courses for schools. Over nearly 50 years, Lawrence’s company introduced an estimated three million young people to the benefits of outdoor activities.

How old do you have to be to work at PGL?
18 years old
To live residentially on a PGL site or work in our Activity Team you’ll need to be 18 years old when you start work with PGL. However, if you’re not 18 yet, we’ve put together a great video of tips of your options and things you can do to make sure you’re good to go when you turn 18.
Is PGL Ofsted registered?
We can accept full or part payments using the Government’s new Tax Free Childcare Scheme when booking your children on PGL Adventure Holidays at our centres registered with OFSTED, based in England.
Why is PGL called PGL?
Although children often refer to us as ‘Parents Get Lost’, the company actually takes its name from the man who started it all in the 1950s – Peter Gordon Lawrence.
What age is PGL for?
13-16 year olds.
How old do you have to be to go to PGL?
In principle, PGL operates a minimum age limit for participation in activities of 7 years of age.
Should I work at PGL?
Pgl is a great job if you like working outside, with kids and running activities. Yeah, the pays not amazing but you can live on site and foods pretty good honestly. Definitely would recommend anyone for this job. It’s seasonal so it’s definitely worth doing for the experience alone.
Can families go to PGL?
PGL Family Adventures are the ideal solution for single parents and there is plenty of opportunity for both parents and children to socialise with other families. We offer a wide choice of rooms for smaller families and single, or solo parent families that have no low-occupancy charges.
Why was PGL shut down?
Ofsted made the announcement after its inspectors visited PGL’s five UK sites during the half-term week. It found “serious safeguarding concerns” at four of them and suspended activities relating to the provision of childcare for unaccompanied seven year olds.
Is PGL free?
Great news – PGL accept payments from the new Tax-Free Childcare Scheme. We can accept full or part payments using the Government’s new Tax Free Childcare Scheme when booking your children on PGL Adventure Holidays at our centres registered with OFSTED, based in England. These are subject to change.
Can you bring your phone to PGL?
Mobile Phones We are happy for children to have a phone and use them in situations where practical and safe to do so. They can also be handed in to our staff for safe keeping but this is not compulsory.
