How long is SOI? Marine School of Infantry Training features two different training courses depending on your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Recruits that seek to become a member of the infantry company endure 59 days of training through the Infantry Training Battalion.
What is SOI training?
SCHOOL OF INFANTRY (SOI) This is the training that marks the transition from entry-level Marine to combat-ready Marine. At SOI, recently graduated enlisted Marines continue their education and training to become more proficient in the fundamentals of being a rifleman.

The School of Infantry (SOI) is where Marines go after Marine boot camp to continue their training as a Marine. The School of Infantry is divided into two different schools; Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) and Marine Combat Training (MCT).
How long is ITB training for Marines?

ITB: Infantry Training Battalion ITB consists of a 59 day 0311 course that must be completed by all infantry Marines regardless of specific MOS.
Is School of Infantry hard?
Infantry training is tough But, let’s get this out of the way now: it’s tough but it’s not as tough as you’ll think it is. There are going to be lots of challenges but remember that the goal is to mentally and physically prepare you for being a professional war fighter.
What is the difference between SOI and ITB?
At SOI, Marines with the Military Occupational Specialty of infantry (0300 occupational field) are trained at the Infantry Training Battalion (ITB), while all non-infantry Marines are trained in basic infantry and combat skills at the Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCT Bn).
Do you get phones at MCT?
Since the majority of training is conducted in the field during the 29 days of MCT, Marines will not always have access to their phones. Family and friends are still encouraged to send Letters as a form of communication during this training.
