Is it free to camp at Kuitpo forest?
Chookarloo is a very popular camp and and picnic site set in natural Eucalypt woodland, within Kuitpo Forest. Forest visitors wishing to use a campsite for day visits are required to book and pay for their site online prior to arrival.
Is Chookarloo dog friendly?
Dogs are allowed, on a leash at all times. Camping at Chookaloo Campground, Kuitpo forest works on a first-in, first-served basis. Kuitpo Forest camping booking options are not available. As this is a popular location, we recommend getting there as early as you can, especially if camping on the weekend.
Is Kuitpo forest open?
Physical access to our Kuitpo and Mount Crawford Information Centres is discontinued indefinitely, as a result of the ongoing public health risk associated with the COVID-19.
Can I have a fire at Kuitpo?
Campfires and Barbecues Wood fires are permitted within the forest from 1 May to 31 October each year. Gas fires are permitted from 1 April to 30 November.
Can you take dogs to Mount Crawford?
Dogs are welcome in plantation forest areas, provided they are kept under direct control at all times and kept on a leash when in picnic areas or near other forest users or wildlife such as kangaroos. To protect native wildlife, dogs and other pets are not permitted in Native Forest Reserves.
