The sarb035 is a watch loved by collectors for a reason. It is made with love and attention and when released was priced at a very competitive level. These days you can still get a good deal and find them for around the $500-$600 dollar mark.

The watch is powered by the Seiko 6R15 automatic movement which has manual wind, hacking and a fantastic power reserve of 50 hours. This leads me on to one of my favourite things about this watch. With 50 hours of power reserve, the SARB can sit comfortably in a rotating watch collection without needing winding again.

Seiko SARB is a line of watches introduced in 2006 and based on the 6R15 automatic caliber. Although it was mainly aimed at the Japanese market, the SARB line became popular in many countries around the world, especially thanks to the SARB033, SARB035, the Alpinist SARB017 and the Cocktail Time SARB065.

No, you should never wear your watch in the shower. The combination of hot water and soap or shampoo will degrade the rubber gaskets that keep your watch’s water resistance over time. This will reduce your watch’s water resistance rating, and require more frequent watch servicing or repair.

ATM or “atmospheres” is the amount of pressure a watch can withstand. 5ATM will withstand pressures equivalent to about 50 meters, or 164 ft under water. It is important to note that this is a measure of pressure NOT depth. 5ATM doesn’t mean the watch can be used diving to a depth of 50 meters.

Is the SARB033 crystal watch waterproof?
The artificial sapphire crystal in the SARB033 is scratch-resistant, and this model has a water resistance of 100 metres. It’s ideal for swimming but not for diving. Surprisingly, this piece doesn’t feature a chronograph but it definitely looks cleaner without it.
Can you still buy a Rolex SARB035 watch?
While you can still buy one, the watch (and its cream dialed cousin the SARB035) is commanding a higher price than a few years ago. As of this writing, they are available for between $400-$500 on Amazon *, whereas they used to hover much closer to $300.
