What does Okuden mean?
In some Japanese arts the word Okuden (奥伝) means a certain level of advanced training. In general it means the communication (den) of the inner arts (oku). The contents are in general principles, which enhance the techniques and forms in their efficiency, but often also their effectiveness.

Shinpiden is the Japanese word for ‘mystery teachings’. It is aimed at Level II practitioners or established Reiki Masters who wish to continue their personal journey, a journey that is ongoing long after you complete the Shinpiden course.

What level is a Reiki master?
third level
The third level is Reiki master. This invitation was extended only to accomplished students who were prepared to devote their lives to teaching people to practice Reiki. Traditionally, master training is done not through course work, but rather through an extended apprenticeship with a Reiki master.
How long does a Reiki session last?
Reiki treatments typically last about 50 minutes. During a session, you’ll lie on a massage table fully clothed, as your reiki practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific energy locations. They use a series of 12 to 15 different hand positions.
Do you talk during a Reiki session?
During reiki, you lie down on a massage table in a dark or dim room. You have to hold still as your practitioner stands over you. They might play soft music in the background, but they won’t talk during the session.
Do you wear clothes for Reiki?
Be sure you are wearing loose and breathable clothes. I usually tell my clients to either wear or bring socks since shoes are removed during the session and the feet can get cold. You’ll also want to use the restroom before the session.
