What is Ekologix made of?

Ekologix is a new style of decking that looks and feels like natural timber, but never requires oiling or painting and is naturally weather resistant. Our unique design is made from over 90% reclaimed timber, bamboo and recycled plastic.

Does Eco deck fade?

Will Ekodeck loose its colour or fade? Ekodeck will lighten when exposed to water and sunlight, reaching its overall ‘weathered’ colour after 6-12 months, depending on the environment. Ekodeck will never fade to grey when left untreated by oil or paint, instead it will maintain its natural ‘weathered’ colour.

Does Ekodeck get hot?

No matter what material is chosen, the darker the colour of your decking, if installed in a full north/western sun area, expect it to be hot on a hot day. If you have any queries or questions – don’t hesitate to reach out or request a sample.

Can you install Ekodeck on concrete?

You can’t install Ekodeck directly on top of concrete or a solid surface – it will need to be installed on some sort of framework. If you have adequate drainage beneath your deck which does not allow water to pool, we recommend a minimum of 40mm ground clearance beneath your deck.

Is Eco deck cheaper than timber?

Cost. Composite decking typically costs between $120 to $200 per m2 for the materials. In comparison, the most popular hardwood timber options generally cost between $60 to $140 per m2. Rarer, more luxurious timber species may cost more, but in most cases using timber will cost you less than composite decking.

How long does eco deck last?

Long Lasting and Durable Due to the materials that an eco deck is comprised of it won’t rot and more often than not is resistant to insect infestation. Thus eco decking is very durable and can last 20 years or more with little to no maintenance required.

Timber can get slippery in a moist area like around the pool, while Ekodeck has got a high non slip rate.

Is Ekodeck better than timber?

Due to timber’s porous nature, it has a tendency to absorb surrounding moisture which leads to rot over time. Composite decking has very low water absorption of approx. 0.5% which results in superior protection against rot and decay when compared to timber.

Can Ekodeck be glued?

No – we do not recommend gluing Ekodeck.

Does Ekodeck get hot in the sun?

The Findings Overall, the Ekodeck boards were not too far off the surface temperatures of the equivalent timber boards, varying between 4 – 7 degrees hotter. Generally, the surface temperature of a decking material depends on how light or dark the board is, with both timber and composite.
