What is the message of Yerma?
Yerma deals with the themes of isolation, passion, and frustration but also the underlying themes of nature, marriage, jealousy, and friendship. Social conventions of the period also play a large part in the play’s plot.

Set in a time and society where the only place for a woman was to sit at home and raise children, Yerma is a tragic story of a woman trapped between her sense of duty and honour (toward her father and husband) and her desire to have a child (for which she requires her husband’s permission).

In the Philippines duendes supposedly live in caves or by rocks. Their color, black or white, determines if they are good or evil. Most evil creatures were afraid of the sign of the cross. Duende from Belize were not considered good or evil so this did not deter them.
Where did Duendes originate from?
El Duende’s origin was the Iberian Peninsula. He was a magical being who either did good or bad. Most often he was mischievous. He was akin to elves, woodland spirits, goblins, and leprechauns.
