What should I expect at my 693 medical exam?
Typically, the physical exam includes looking at your eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin, and external genitalia. The doctor will also order a chest X-ray and blood test to check for syphilis. Children will generally be excused from the X-ray and blood test requirement.

Virtually everyone who adjusts status to permanent resident (green card holder) must submit Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, as a part of the process.
How long is I-693 medical valid for?

This is done with a completed Form I-693, signed by a USCIS-designated civil surgeon. Normally, Form I-693 is valid for two years after the date the civil surgeon signed the form, if the dated signature was no more than 60 days before the applicant filed for adjustment of status.
What happens after submitting i-693?

Since the medical exam is valid for 2 years from the date the civil surgeon signs it, the applicant can submit the I-693 sealed medical exam envelope to USCIS during an interview, upon request by USCIS (in an RFE) or (possibly – see below) proactively send to USCIS.
