When did unified carrier registration start?
Created by the Unified Carrier Registration Act of 2005 (UCR Act – 49 United States Code (USC) section 14504a), it replaces the former system for registering and collecting fees from the operators of vehicles engaged in interstate travel – the Single State Registration System (SSRS).
Who needs UCR registration?
Who needs a UCR Filing? Any motor carrier who drives a commercial vehicle carrying cargo over state or international lines. Individuals and companies who make arrangements for the shipment of goods, such as brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies are also subject to the UCR fee.
