Who is eligible for AMEP?
The AMEP is available to eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants who hold a permanent visa or an eligible temporary visa and to Australian citizens who previously held a permanent visa. The principal visa holder and their dependants may be eligible for AMEP.

What is AMEP assessment?
Studying in the AMEP In July 2017 the Australian Government changed the way students studying in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) are assessed. Students who were being assessed under the Certificate of Spoken and Written English (CSWE) will now be assessed under the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
How long is AMEP course?
AMEP used to be limited to 510 hours but AMEP has now changed. AMEP students can now study for longer. Some people who were not eligible before, may now be eligible. Some people who were not eligible because they completed their AMEP hours or reached the highest level of the program may now be eligible again.

Where can immigrants learn English?
The Immigrant Learning Center offers free English classes to immigrants and refugees age 16 and older. All classes are taught in English with instruction in speaking, reading, writing, listening, grammar and computer skills.

SLPET stands for Settlement Language Pathways to Employment and Training. It is a short course for AMEP students to prepare you for work and further training in Australia. SLPET is free if you are eligible for AMEP.
