What do you think about the gaiter trap on Lone peaks?

The “gaiter trap” is, in my opinion, over-designed. There are loops on the side of the shoe for other gaiters, and there is a hook at the bottom of the laces, but the velcro is unnecessarily cumbersome. Plus the velcro would wear down in no time; while fine for a replaceable gaiter, I wouldn’t want the velcro on my Lone Peaks to come undone.

What gaiters do you use on the PCT?

I’ve gone both ways with/without gaiters on the PCT and AT, using knee length, heavy duty, gortex OR gaiters, with mixed results. I prefer the light weight Altra gaiters. The good: the material is nice, good stretch and breathability, compatible with Lone Peaks.
