How soon can you tile after waterproofing?
It is not unusual to hear of a water-based membrane being applied one day and tiled the next day. However, the majority of water based waterproof membranes require a minimum of 48 hours prior to tiling.
Do you prime over waterproofing before tiling?
Do I need to use a primer? Yes, with the exception of substrates covered with a waterproofing membrane due to its non-absorbent nature. We recommend the use of a primer on all other substrates to be tiled. By not using a primer, you can void your product and tiling system warranties.
Can I use Mapei premium mortar over Mapei AquaDefense?

What happens if you don’t prime before waterproofing?
If you have applied waterproofing right up the wall, then it will need to perform to hold tiles as well. On the floor may not matter as much as the membrane pretty much stays under weight. and its obvious that the primer does make a huge difference. without primer I can fairly easily peel off the waterproofing.
