What is Lync federation?
Skype for Business/Lync Federation is a functionality which allows users to communicate with others outside their organization. All features included in your license will be available (read the Knowledge Base article on Skype for Business Standard Vs. Skype for Business Enterprise for more information).
What does Federated Skype mean?
If you deploy Skype for Business in your organization, you can federate with the domains of one or more Skype for Business Online customers.
How do I enable federation in Skype for Business?
To enable federated user access for your organization, select the Enable communications with federated users check box. To disable federated user access for your organization, clear the Enable communications with federated users check box.
How do I federate multiple domains with Lync Online?
If you want to federate with more than one of the domains, you must configure support for each individual domain with which you want to support federation, and the administrator of the Lync Online customer must enable federation for each of the domains to be federated.
